What is a Business Scan?
A St. Louis SCORE Business Scan is like hiring a team of expert consultants. We do an in-depth analysis of your entire business to identify opportunities and recommendations for improving company performance in the areas of sales, operation, management, marketing, finance, and technology.
① The Introductory
This phase is mandatory and lasts about 1-2 hours. We will review the program with you and reach an agreement that it is appropriate for your business. We will then assign a Business Scan Leader to your company, complete the required initial assessment, and begin assembling your personal Business Scan Team.
② The Diagnostic
This phase is mandatory and lasts between 30-60 days. We will collect business data from you, ask questions, observe operations, and perform other diagnostic tasks. You and your team can expect to commit approximately 8-15 hours of time during this part of the business scan. The result of this phase is a detailed written report that will contain considerations and suggestions for improving your company's performance.
③ The Action Plan
This phase is optional and can take 15-30 days to complete. We will assist you in prioritizing suggestions from the Diagnostic Phase and developing a solutions-based action plan for the top identified priorities.
④ The Implementation
This phase is optional and the time to complete is dependent upon the Action Plan developed. We can lead, participate, or generally support the creation and execution of the implementation plan.
⑤ The Completion
This phase is mandatory and can occur anytime after the Diagnostic Phase. This phase signals the end of the Business Scan Project. A review meeting is conducted as part of this phase to ensure project goals and objectives were met satisfactorily. In addition, we ask that you complete an end-of-project survey.
